Frequently asked questions
- APITube is a real-time news API built for AI. It exposes 500,000+ global sources as structured, sourced data an LLM, agent, or RAG system can retrieve and cite — each article enriched with entities, per-entity sentiment, categories, source authority, and story clusters, delivered over REST, streaming, or a hosted MCP server.
- Query APITube from your agent or RAG pipeline over REST, MCP, or a stream. APITube returns matching articles enriched with entities, sentiment, categories, and story clusters, so your model answers with current facts it can attribute to a source instead of guessing from its training cutoff.
- Yes. APITube runs a hosted MCP server at https://mcp.apitube.io/. Point Cursor, Claude Desktop, VS Code, or Windsurf at it with your API key — no install. It exposes a search_news tool and a suggest (ID-lookup) tool, plus ready-made prompts: monitor_company, topic_sentiment, breaking_news, and compare_coverage.
- Every APITube article tags entities across 9 types — person, location, organization, brand, product, event, disease, natural disaster, and sport — each linked to Wikipedia and Wikidata and scored with its own sentiment. Sentiment is also returned at overall, title, and body levels, from −1 to +1 with a polarity label.
- Beyond entities and sentiment, each APITube article carries IPTC Media Topics categories with relevance scores, a source with a political bias label and an Open PageRank authority score from 0 to 10, and a story ID that groups related coverage into one event — so agents see the story, not 40 duplicate headlines.
- Yes. APITube publishes Agent Skills under /.well-known/ following the agentskills.io standard, verifiable via SHA-256 digests. This lets agents discover and call APITube on their own, with no manual wiring.
- Three ways. Pull over the REST API with exports in JSON, CSV, TSV, XML, RSS, XLSX, Parquet, and JSONL; stream in real time over Server-Sent Events and WebSocket; or receive webhooks that push articles to your endpoint on a match. One API key works across REST, streaming, MCP, and skills.
- A plain news API returns headlines. APITube returns structured, sourced facts — per-entity sentiment, story clustering and dedup, source authority (Open PageRank), full article body, streaming, a hosted MCP server, and published Agent Skills. That enrichment is what an LLM or agent needs to ground, cite, and act on, rather than a raw feed.
- Yes. The same enriched schema is available on every plan — the free tier returns full entities, sentiment, and categories, so you can evaluate APITube for real before you scale.
- APITube covers 59 languages and 177+ countries across 500,000+ global sources, with a historical archive you can query by date range.
- APITube keeps a historical archive you can query by date range using published-at filters. Depth is measurable per query rather than capped at a fixed number of years, so you scope the exact time window your agent or backfill needs.
